RACE INFORMATION 27 JUNE 2026
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
“I am pleased that the City of Gdynia has joined the prestigious group of MTB Eliminator World Cup hosts, demonstrating how important the development of diverse cycling activities is for the region. MTB Eliminator is highly spectacular and draws the attention of fans and media worldwide. For Polish riders, this will be a fantastic opportunity to perform in front of their home crowd and to fight for international ranking points on Polish soil, at home,” said Marek Leśniewski, President of the Polish Cycling Federation.
This year’s MTB Eliminator World Cup series features eight locations across the globe, and Gdynia joins the prestigious list as the first host city in Poland. The combination of an urban setting, high-speed sprint dynamics, and close proximity to spectators creates a unique atmosphere that distinguishes this format in the world of competitive cycling.
“In the past, we have hosted the Polish MTB Marathon Championships and events with the prestigious UCI C1 category – now it’s time for a World Cup in the electrifying MTB Eliminator format, a dynamic race that guarantees pure adrenaline. June sunshine and the postcard-worthy scenery of Skwer Kościuszki make for a perfect event,” says Aleksandra Kosiorek, Mayor of Gdynia. She adds: “MTB fans are surely already counting down the days, as they will not only be able to watch the world’s top riders in action, but also feel like them. Sunday’s amateur races will be an excellent opportunity to get a taste of the excitement that comes with a competition of this level.”
A Unique Sporting Spectacle in an Urban Setting
MTB Eliminator is a fast, intense, and highly visual form of mountain biking. Riders compete in short, four-person elimination heats, with the top two advancing to the next round while the remaining two are knocked out. The course is designed to combine technical elements with striking obstacles and the dynamic nature of a sprint.
“From the very first contact, Gdynia impressed us with its openness, strong organizational readiness, and exceptional location. The course, set among the city walkways right by the sea, combined with the atmosphere created by the fans, has the potential to become one of the most exciting rounds of the entire World Cup. We’re delighted that Poland is joining the group of countries hosting the UCI World Cup MTB Eliminator, and we believe this will be a fantastic debut.” said Kristof Bruyeel, UCI and City Mountain Bike representative and technical delegate of the event.
In Gdynia, an approximately 500-meter loop will be marked out in the city’s most iconic and representative locations – around Molo Południowe, Skwer Kościuszki, and the main pedestrian promenades. This will allow spectators to follow the action up close, becoming an integral part of the sporting experience.
“We are extremely proud to introduce such a spectacular race format as the UCI World Cup MTB Eliminator to Poland. This event combines top-level sport with vibrant urban energy and a festive atmosphere. Gdynia is the perfect place to showcase this discipline to a wide audience – its seaside scenery and infrastructure make it possible to create a course that is attractive for both athletes and fans. We aim to make this event a permanent fixture in Poland’s sports calendar,” said Marcin Florek, event director and organizer from Labosport Polska.
An Event for Residents, Tourists, and Families
Organizers promise numerous additional attractions and activity zones for all ages. The program will include:
- children’s animation and play zone
• cycling equipment presentations
• a sports village
• competitions and activities for visitors
• opportunities to meet athletes and event ambassadors
All of this will make the MTB Eliminator World Cup in Gdynia a true celebration of sport and energy—ideal for cycling enthusiasts as well as families seeking exciting outdoor attractions.
Two Days of Sporting Excitement – From Pros to Amateurs
The sporting festivities will not end with the professional competition. On 28 June, the day after the main event, open MTB races for amateurs will take place, giving everyone—regardless of experience—the chance to test their skills on a specially prepared course. It’s a unique opportunity to feel the atmosphere of a world-class event and enjoy a sporting adventure in one of the most picturesque locations in Poland.
